More Student Opening Sequences
Luna
This was one of favourite opening sequences because of the whole atmosphere of the sequence. The music and lighting suited the genre of a romance/ rom-com because the music was upbeat and the lighting was high-key. I thought there was good use of all different settings because it was .... which showed where they went together. They used a variety of shots and I liked the fact that there was a flashback at the end of the opening sequence to how they met on day one. Although they could have been a bit more creative with the title sequence because all the names appeared in the same way and creative titles would suit the film genre.
The Visitor
This was a horror and I thought it had many good shots included in the opening sequence. Close ups of different things were used to set the scene without showing the whole setting which was an interesting technique and helped create mystery from the very beginning. The setting was good and appeared to be relevant to the rest of the film. A voice over was used which helped create a scary atmosphere to the film as well as give a clue as to where the film is going and who it is about. An unusual costume was used in the opening sequence which further creates mystery. The girl in the film is wearing a white dress suggesting innocence and purity which contrasts with the dark menacing woods.
Dead Inquisition
This was a crime genre and I thought it was more of a mid-film scene than an opening sequence. It was quite short and used a blurry camera in a lot of parts. However I liked the dialogue and the costume was realistic. I thought the setting was good and the film and production names appeared well and in a really creative way but the rest of the names could have appeared better. To improve, they could have re-shot the really blurry parts and edited the sequence further to be more creative with the names. They could also have made it more of an opening sequence than a mid-film scene and a bit longer as well.
